McKinney EDC receives international award for excellence in Economic Development

The McKinney Economic Develop Corporation (MEDC) was honored with the international Bronze Excellence Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) during the IEDC Annual Conference in Toronto, Canada.

MEDC received the award for innovation in campaigning Economic Development Week by utilizing multiple media platforms including newspaper, YouTube, radio, social media and the website to educate the community on the importance of economic development and highlight initiatives identified in the recently adopted five-year organizational strategic plan.

“On behalf of the IEDC board of directors and Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee, congratulations to the McKinney Economic Development Corporation. Not only did they work to provide a necessary service to their community; but their participation in the awards program sheds light on their stellar projects which other communities can now use as a benchmark,” said Michael Langley, CEO of the Minneapolis Saint Paul Economic Development Partnership and 2017 IEDC Board Chair.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment and speaks to the diligence and innovation our team pours into work daily,” said Darrell Auterson, MEDC President.

MEDC exists to make McKinney the most desirable location in North Texas for business by encouraging growth through strategic investments in corporate culture, talent development and capital assets.
